“He ao, he aotea, he Aotearoa”. It is a cloud, a white cloud, a long white cloud exclaimed to the Maori siting of their new found land .This then became - Aotearoa - “Land of the long white cloud”.
Although today it is known as New Zealand most Maori's of New Zealand still refer to their country as Aotearoa, and their language, culture, and traditions still remain very much part of their lifestyle
